Ohhh, that does make more sense. So yeah, it's probably meant to be an anti-harassment feature or something along those lines.
Honestly once I tore the whole thing down I immediately felt better about having to put it back together, so I've overcome the biggest obstacle, which is Failure Inertia/Ragequit. It's going okay so far!
