Latest Crochet!

I have what I think is a great idea for my next pattern, but first I really, really, really have to finish my hip scarves (belly dance) and second Tetris afghan... I just don't have the motivation some days...

These are adorable! And OMG TETRIS AFGHAN! I'd love to see that when you finish. I keep telling myself I'm going to do an 8-bit afghan classic game something, but I don't think I have the attention span for it.

THIS is a picture of my first Tetris Afghan, made during the Summer Ravelympics of 2008, so it didn't take that long - I'm a short attention span person myself, so that's why I'm having issues with the granny square one - it's taking a lot longer!

Maybe I'll take another go at it and connive my friend into doing a crochet-along with me or something. She wants to do either Mario Bros. or Legend of Zelda.

It'd be easier to do something big like that with a friend keeping you motivated! Hopefully you can connive her into it, because the world needs more Tetris afghans, and Mario and Zelda wouldn't hurt, either!

I am just about to go to the shop to pick up some yarn and start this project! But, I do have three questions:

1. It appears to me that the pattern starts at the bottom and ends at the small tip - is that correct?
2. I'm new at pattern reading and wasn't positive what you meant by "SC 2tog". Does it mean to work a SC in every other stitch of the row below?
3. Are you English or American, because I think (though I could be wrong) that the English SC is different from the American SC.

1. Actually, the pattern starts at the tip, and works down to the bottom.

2. Sort of - it's a decrease, where you single crochet two stitches together. So, pull up a loop through the first SC, then pull up a loop through the next SC, then yarn over and pull through all three loops on the hook. And where on the previous row you had two stitches, you now only have one on the current row. There are other methods of decreasing, and if you like one of those better, it'd be fine to use it instead. Also, I should note that when you get to the end of a round/row it may not be an even pattern repeat, but you just stop wherever in the pattern you run out of stitches on the previous row.

3. I am American, though, yes, the terms are very different (I think a US double crochet is a British single crochet). I peeked at your profile, and, sadly, unlike you, this is very much Kansas... D:

Go for it - you can't really screw it up, because whatever you end up with, all you have to do is hold your head up and say "I meant for it to look like that" and it's alllllll good. :D And who knows, you might end up with something better, though in that case you are contractually obligated to share the new, better pattern - it's in the invisible print on the back side of the web page... ;)
