Cake!

I made this cake for a friend who collects cake plates. Sometimes she buys fake cakes to display on her plates, so for her birthday I decided to make her a cake! I followed the Wedding Cake Topper pattern in the May/June issue of Crochet Today magazine, and used I Love This Cotton in Aubergine and J&P Coat's Metallic Knit-Cro-Sheen in Gold/Gold. I also added a piece of cardstock to the bottom of the lowest tier. The bottom of that tier was kind of ugly and a bit poufy, and the cake didn't quite sit right because of it. The cardstock on the bottom covered the ugly and helped it sit better.

That is pretty spiffy. Good color combinations and clever idea with the card stock, I'd have just squished it into submission. :P
