This is what I'm working on - a shawl for my mom. I'm almost done, I think. The pattern is really simple and I enjoy it.

That's very pretty. The stitches aren't so complicated they get in the way of the very deep, rich color of the yarn. Very nice!

I found a pattern called "Ribbon Fringe Shawl", Janie Herrin in the book '100 Crochet Projects'. Which I later realized is apparently
this
pattern, which is free at the Coats & Clark website.

I think it's very pretty, managing to have the nice lacy patterns of crochet without sacrificing substance. But I'm biased: I love forest green.
