additions to my projects list

I will be getting married next year, and my sisters will be two of my attendants (the third is my BFF, who is a guy). I want to thank them with something nice, and it occurred to me that I could make things for them. I went and browsed Ravelry kind of randomly, and came across a pattern for a lovely, lacy-looking summer wrap. Almost immediately I decided to make two of them, one for each sister, in the same yarn--so, two identical, lovely wraps. Promptly went out and bought the yarn. A very pretty shade of blue, a color all three of us love.

As if I didn't already have too many project on my hooks...

(Now I just need to get or make something for my BFF.)

I'm on Rav too! What's the name of the pattern you chose?

It's the One-Skein Wrap by Marilyn Losee. I'll be using more than one skein, though--pattern was designed for LB's One-Pound Skein.

Does your BFF like fingerless gloves? The kind you can wear to keep your hands warm but still do things you need finger grip for. & maybe a matching scarf? So it's still in the same vein of being handmade/crocheted, but masculine.

same or darker shade of blue, depending on what you're using, to keep it in the bridal party theme. :)

Hmm, he might like them. I'll ask! He already has a hat and scarf from me, made a few years back. But I like the idea of something matching the wraps for Older Sister and Younger Sister. Hmm... a tie or something? Hmm!

There is a fabulous dragon scale fingerless glove pattern out there somewhere - I keep seeing completed project pics.

I asked my SO what kind of masculine equivalents to a wrap he could think of, and the best he came up with was a cummerbund. He also said things like tie, socks, hat-band, touque, and mittens.

yes, a cummerbund sounds like a good idea, since it's for a wedding. Matching fingerless gloves & cummerbund could be kinda cool & then it's not like something he might not wear again. the ladies will surely wear their wraps in the future, so he should get something he can use later, too. waistcoat might be too involved, we don't want you crocheting yourself to fatigue before your special day!

We're not planning on dressing formally, though, so he won't need a cummerbund. I don't know what the name of this dress code would be, but it's basically "a nice dress or a nice suit." My sister will certainly wear their wraps more than once, but they're for presents, not necessarily to be worn at wedding itself... I'm liking the idea of a new scarf and maybe the dragon-gloves for my bestie...

For your BFF, what about a cowl? Or a scarf in a different shape to the one you've already made him? Like, Snow Drops Scarf?
