Photos of the two finished cat blankets, now that I've blocked them:
This first one is six basic granny squares, with finished size of 20cm. Each of these didn't have enough yarn to make a full square, so i finished them in black, and then added a bit more black for the sashing. The border was done in alternating rows of black and whatever scraps of green I had, with the only consideration to try and make sure that the sequence of colours changes went for dramatic rather than sequential, because the sequence was patchy. Yarn is mostly 8-ply acrylic. I'm pretty pleased with this one!

This second one started life as a fringed scarf which was donated to a group that couldn't use it. The person who passed it on to me specifically requested that I use it for a cat blanket. Originally, I had planned to frog the whole thing, but in the end carefully separated it in to three sections, and then sewed them together on the long sides. This was possibly not as accurate as I might have liked, and the centre section was noticeably longer than the two sides until I blocked it. Yarn salvaged from the scarf fringe was used to sew the pieces together, and to add some width. This wasn't quite wide enough so I've crocheted in black acrylic as well.

And an 'in progress' -- I'm making a stack of 20cm basic granny squares, mostly sitting in the car on the drive to work. These are three of the recent ones.
