Hi everyone! I hope people still follow this community. I was wondering if anyone had any pattern recommendations for projects that don't require lots of yarn—roughly less than 300 yards, maybe. (ETA: I'm not looking for anything in particular! Just curious about people's personal favorite patterns. ^^)

If you're on Ravelry (free) you can use advanced search for patterns and specify yardage. That should work for you?

Angel wing pinafore (Maxine Gonser) on Ravelry is a favorite--easy, quick, and always works up beautifully. It's my go-to baby gift. And it works with all kinds of yarn and different colors.

Cowls, hats, headbands, small toys, doilies/mandalas, mitts...you can make a lot with 300 yards! Was there something in particular you were looking to make?

Well, I've made almost a dozen of these coasters:

https://hookedonpatterns.com/crochet-blog/free-crochet-spiral-coasters

They're quick and fun, which makes them perfect for the "I want to make something but don't know what" times. Also, i play in Nerdopolis (a crafting challenge community on Ravelry) and the coasters make it easy to fulfill challenges by using certain colors.

I've also made quite a few of these ducks:

They're very cute and quick.

I've made this kerchief three times:

It's a nice way to show off some special yarn - the first one I made was with Llama Silk.

These are just a few I found by looking at my past projects. Good luck in your search!

I've got a bunch of cute little animals that I make: Dolphins, flying pigs, stingrays, and now hippos!

Shoot, that reminds me, I really need to take down the download link for the stingray pattern now that aquariums are open again...

Dunno why I never shared the pattern over here. Gimme a bit, I'll get a link up 😃👍

I was really into amigurumi for a little while. It can be great for small things that do not require a lot of yarn. If you are unfamiliar with amigurumi, Planet June has some free beginners' tutorials that I found very helpful.

In addition to those tutorials, I have made Freddie the Fish. This pattern needs safety eyes.

I have also made this mushroom. This blog with the totally sketchy name has other crochet patterns.

I've made a lot of these hair kerchiefs with ends of skeins, they're comfortable, handy, and quick to make. I have a collection of my own and have given them as gifts to people who admired mine.
