Yay! People are joining my community!

If you want to introduce yourself, go ahead and do so in the comments.

I'm Kristen. I'm also on Ravelry, which is looking like it's going to be a total lifesaver in helping me thin out my yarn stash! Current WIP: A Maui shrug, with some old Patton's Brilliant yarn in black.

I would like to see this comm make good use of tags. Are there some tags you can think of that I should be adding right off the bat?

Hiya!

I don't think I ever joined any crocheting comms on lj, and I figured this was a good time to make a change.

I'm wyomingnot on Ravelry as well.

As for tag suggestions... how about tags for patterns and yarn?

Love your username(s). My daughter's middle name is Wyoming, after Ms. Knott. :)

Hi! I go by wyrdkat most places these days including Ravelry though I really don't use that at all, though I probably should.

I've been crocheting for about 20 years (I'm in my late 30s). I used to make a lot of different things like afghans, hats and the occasional sweater but these days I mostly do amigurumi. I do a lot of other artsy crafty things too when the mood strikes, though I haven't been doing much lately.

So I would suggest amigurumi as a tag for sure.

Hi! I learned to crochet for the first time when I was about six and come from a large family that crochets; when I was a teenager, in a fit of rebellion (and before it was cool!) I learned to knit.

Then I realized that crochet is easier and more fun, and I rarely look back!

My mother and I, as the youngest crafty people at my church, have inherited all the yarn of all the church ladies who have too much arthritis to do it any more. So we've this huge yarn stash, and refuse to buy more 'till it's gone, but it's nearly all sythetics from the '70s and '80s. Right now I do a lot of ugly hats, rainbow-colored afgans, and little improvisational amigurumi-ish creatures. Though right now I'm trying to learn old-fashioned doilies and lace, since there's a lot of thread, too.

I have crocheted scarves and dishrags, woot! It's something I like to do, but haven't done a lot of, yet.

I'm on Ravelry as WookieWife (and on LJ as the same) and am a crochet nut. My grandma taught me the basics when I was about 6 and 20-someodd years later, I'm still... hooked.

I just finished a blanket for a friend of my husband's wife, who is due in July. And a scarf for my friend D who will be visiting from Australia next month (so good timing). And a puppy bag (similar to a diaper bag) for my puppy-niece to keep her toys and treats in. And and and... the WIP list never ends!

How about a tag for FO's? Or just a plain ol' "HELP!!"?

Hi everyone :) I'm Rhian. I think I'm either just rhian or rhianoran over at Ravlery, but I don't really use Ravlery that much so whatever. I don't have much to say except that I crochet a lot and I can't wait to see everyone's pictures.

Hi! I'm mostly into thread doilies, and occasionally afghans.

For tags, may I suggest thread, doilies, afghans, clothing, hats, international conversions? (This last referring to the different terminology and materials in countries other than the US; can anyone thing of a more succinct term?)

Hello! I'm avidbeader here and on Ravelry. My mom tried to teach me to crochet when I was 12, but I lost interest after producing a couple of curly snakes. I inherited a box full of crafty stuff from my grandma a few years ago, including her large collection of crochet hooks and this time the bug bit hard.

I'm currently trying to crochet my first pair of socks.

Hi there,
I go by the name of ladyvox or craftyvox - depending on whether it's writing or crafty related :) I severely suck at crochet, knitting, needlework and such - but I keep telling myself I do want to learn it, some day. Several years ago I started to crochet a lovely long thick scarf, but eventually it was my granny who finished the darn thing for me ;-) I am kind of hoping that by joining lovely communities as this one, I'll catch the bug myself hopefully sooner then later! :)

Hi everyone!

I was so excited to find a crochet community already up and running. =D Totally made my day. My grandma taught me and my sisters to crochet when we were little, and I recently picked it back up. I'm something of an advanced beginner, I've made a lot of scarves and hats, but haven't ventured off into anything much more complicated. My next goal is a shrug (love the Maui pattern, btw) and possibly a few little amigurumi figures.

Hope this becomes a fantastic community!

What about tags for specific project types? (doilies, afghans, clothing, decor, etc)

Also, hi! I'm Den, but happily hooking along for... a long time now. There's doilies and afghans and sweaters all over my house.

Hello! I'm Caro, and I've been crocheting for about a year now. I'm in crochet and amigurumi communities on LJ, but I decided I wanted to have a crafting blog at DW, so I'm hoping to get involved in the communities here. I'm also on Ravelry as "Moongate".

Hello,
I am Cheryl. I taught myself to crochet a few years ago. I love to make afghans, but am running out of people to give them to. lol I've also made everyone in my family scarves. I have been told I have to make a hat for my husband because I have made stuff for everyone but him. So, I will. It won't take long. There are two afghans I want to make after I make his hat. :D I also have a couple patterns for purses I would love to make. And, I want to do the Holiday Ornament thing(s). I consider my skill level to be Intermediate but working steadily towards Advanced. Not sure how you really tell.

I look forward to talking with all of you.

Hi, I'm Quirk. I don't know if it really makes sense to introduce myself here as I think this has been lost to the mists of time. I haven't done that much crochet--a Sierpinski-triangle shawl out of a book called Making Mathematics with Needlework, and a bunch of potholder-stitch patterns. Unfortunately I use another blog for these: 1, 2,the shawl. Perhaps I will cross-post a link if I do something else interesting.

I am also looking for crafting circles around San Francisco and would love to hear about them.
