Because I have an abundance of time and yarn combined with a lack of funds, everyone is getting crocheted Yule gifts this year. So far on my list to make is two pairs of fingerless gloves, a throw, and possibly a shawl (though I'm rethinking the latter). I come from a family of crafters, so I know the gifts would be appreciated.

I made this hat for my husband as he is in desperate need of ear-covering winter wear. I really, really like how it turned out:

Woman wearing a green crocheted hat.

Now I'm debating on making myself one if my hands aren't killing me by the end of the month.

Is anyone else doing handmade gifts for the winter holidays?

Yes! One pair of socks done and another half done. It's summer here so wintry gifts are, sadly, not so seasonal.

I'd hoped to make cushion covers as well, but a shoulder injury meant a couple of months off my schedule and I have to take it easy now.

The hat and the model's expression are very cute!

I knit socks at the moment, but I've queued crochet patterns I plan to try - some like a sock you'd wear around the house and one a ripple pattern knee sock.

Yep; I'm planning to crochet another Grant Wood painting for my dad, if I can find the time/the right painting (he really liked the Grant Wood painting potholder I made for his birthday) and probably something Homestuck for my younger brother. I was going to give my mom this dragon for Christmas, but then her planned birthday present was late in the mail so I switched the two around.

I kind of wish my brother was a more avid brony, so I could take advantage of that craft contest Michaels is running and the sheer enthusiasm of the brony community, but that's probably not going to happen. Maybe if I can find one of those charity tree angel things... (I give this an 8 out of 10 for gift selfishness.)

And then maybe some random snowflakes and/or characters for various friends. IDK, we'll see what kind of time I have.

Also, may I just say that that is a totally snazzy hat? Because it is.

I always crochet gifts of some sort or another for Yule and/or Giftmas.

Sweet! My other half LOVES the hats I make for her, so I like finding new patterns, especially easy ones, to make.

I'll be taking some crochet to the family christmas as something to do if I get bored, but yeah, most of the gifts I need to do are for teenagers who don't really get into handmade gifts that much. Also, it's nominally summer here (though still quite cold which is making me happy) so we don't do so much of the cosy wintery gifts. And I'm not entirely sure about making anyone a crochet bikini :-)

Damn, and also meant to comment on your fabulous hat! Which is fabulous!

That is one neat hat!

I made my brother a hat (similar style to yours), sister in law some wrist warmers and a hat, and I'm making a gnome type hat (best way to describe it) as a secret santa gift.

For someone who doesn't like hats, I am sure making an awful lot of them right now :D
