I tried to make a pair of foldback mittens, but accidentally made the tension on the second one higher than the first. At a glance there isn't a visible difference between the two, but when I put the second one on, it feels a bit tighter and the part that folds over the fingers doesn't sit quite right. The Internet suggests I might be able to fix it with blocking, but a friend who knits says I'd probably be better off undoing the whole thing and redoing it.

The yarn is Studio Chunky from Neighborhood Fiber Company, which the site describes as follows:
Super squishy Studio Chunky has a 6-ply construction that keeps pilling to a minimum. Perfect for heavier weight sweaters and cozy accessories.
100% Superwash Merino
125 yards/4 oz
3-4 sts/inch US 9-11

The crochet hook I used is a size 9/I. I've both lost the original pattern and modified it, but if it's relevant I can write it out.

What should I do?

If it's crochet and it doesn't feel comfortable, I'd redo it. Lovely even stitches are lovely :) but in my experience they don't stretch much during blocking. They'll be really cozy and warm, I think!

Yeah, if your stitch count is the same for the second one, I'd redo it. (Since you say you modified it, might you have dropped the number of stitches?) If you feel like your tension's still going to be too tight, you can also increase to a K hook.

Good luck! They sure are pretty. :D

Best wishes for your re-do!

FWIW, only the poster can see the IP addresses of commenters on their post, and collecting that data (and warning about it) is an account-level setting. The admins might've had a reason for setting it & might be willing to say why.

I immediately felt better

Ah good--glad it's going okay on the revision!

Hey, kudos to you for reworking the pattern to your own satisfaction! That takes guts, and is something I'm not real comfortable doing - even though I've been crocheting for eons. :)

I do wish you luck on the redo! Sounds like it's going better already. :D
